THE NAMIBIAN, WEDNESDAY – HEALTHCARE FOR THE PEOPLE

July 7, 2018technical@imarketing.com.na

A LOCAL private medical care centre, Betesda Medical Centre, and its Finnish partner Nuovo Nordic Healthcare Centre, this week joined hands to support government in providing healthcare services to all.

The Betesda Medical Centre is a locally owned Medical Centre located in Katutura with the mission to provide primary healthcare services to low and middle income residents of Katutura.

Together with the health ministry, the partners launched a web portal called Qadental at Katutura Intermediate Hospital last week, as part of a drive to strengthen dental healthcare services.

This pilot project will run until 30 May and its evaluation will provide valuable information on the general dental services going forward. This portal will enable local dental care experts to create an open consultation culture and to exchange knowledge globally.

Speaking at the launch, health permanent secretary Andreas Mwoombola said the portal signifies another digitisation milestone in the health industry, aligning it with the national goals of creating a knowledge-based society.

“We appreciate your great support and commitment to our health and we look forward to further developing and strengthening our partnership,” Mwoombola said.

The two institutions whose common interests are dental care services, mental and maternal healthcare services plan providing training and healthcare services at the dental clinic at Katutura State Hospital this week, while also donating toys to the children’s ward at the hospital.

In addition, this project will provide house calls and mental health services. The company has a database of over 11 000 Finnish healthcare professionals. Apart from the pilot project in Namibia, it has operations in New Zealand, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Somalia.
